2003 Toyota Camry Review. The backstory

Made this video right after graduating High School

I remember like it was 3 years ago. Originally, I was actually supposed to review a colleagues Mazda Miata. I personally dislike that generation Miata (NC) however, hers was a special edition hard top and she was willing to let me review it! Sold!

Well… Literally everything in that shoot went wrong. I’ll write about that story next.

Anyways, I was so annoyed by how badly the shoot went when filming that NC Miata that the next day, I called my buddy Aman (Jaman if you watch the video) up and asked if I could film his 2003 Toyota Camry. His car was missing a hubcap which I found amusing so I was excited to review and drive my very first Camry.

Anyways, with the rage from the previous day’s shoot, I decided I was going to go all out on this review. I quickly wrote up a script and then Aman came over with the Camry Luxury Edition. Immediately, I noticed that the exterior was filthy so after about 5 minutes of cleaning with WalMart’s finest soap, we had a car ready for filming.

The car itself was fantastic. I’m being serious. I daily drive a 2002 Honda Accord and the drive and feel of the Camry was far superior. I don’t think I heard a single squeak or rattle come from that car. I was amazed especially considering the fact it had over 160,000 miles. Granted, it lacked power compared to the Accord and I never liked the styling of that gen as much as the Accord but man, as a first car or any car you need as a beater, it’s the best.

Now back to the story. The filming went brilliantly. I attribute this to two reasons. One being luck after failing miserably the previous day. Two, was that filming this shoot only required me and Aman. Aman’s a great guy. Quiet with a contagious laugh and didn’t disturb during the shoot or do anything out of the ordinary. In fact he made the driving review funnier than I could’ve imagined. So I have to thank him for that.

I was thrilled with all the shots we got including the driving review which was totally unscripted and I went home and edited that video together that very night. My respect goes out to all those who vlog daily. It’s tough. I don’t know if it was the rage in me but I ended up producing one of my finest pieces of work that night. The views showed that to be the case as well. Either that or tons of people seemed to have an interest in a 2003 Toyota Camry Review. So the moral of the story is, if life hits you hard, take that rage and make a car review.
